NASCAR Driver Statistics - Pure Michigan 400


Not all teams announce their weekly race previews'. Here is a list of those teams that do reveal the information in the teams race preview: 

#1- Jamie McMurray - McMurray has made 21 previous starts at (MIS). He has one top-five, four top-ten finishes and he has led a total of 36 laps.  His best qualifying effort came in 2010 when he started second and his best finish of fourth came in 2004. His average start is 24.8 with an average finish of 19.6.

#2- Brad Keselowski - Keselowski has 8 Cup starts at Michigan and has earned 2 top 5's and 2 top 10's with no DNF's.  His best finish was 2nd place in August of 2012. Keselowski has led 20 laps at the track and has an average start of 22.250 with an average finish of 17.500.

#5- Kasey Kahne -  In 19 Sprint Cup starts at Michigan International Speedway, Kahne has one win, seven top-five finishes, eight top-10s and has led 63 laps. He has two pole positions at the two-mile oval and won from the top starting spot in June 2006. Kahne’s average start there is 10.8, and his average finish is 16.9. Most recently in June at Michigan, Kahne led 14 laps and was leading when his right-front tire blew that resulted in him making contact with the Turn 2 wall. The incident ended Kahne’s day, and he was credited with a 38th-place finish.

#9- Marcos Ambrose - In his past 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at the Irish Hills track, Ambrose has posted one top-five and two top-10 finishes. He also has one pole and holds the track record, all recorded last season.

#10-Danica Patrick - The Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn will mark Danica Patrick’s 33rd career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start and her second at Michigan. She started 37th and finished 13th in June at the 2 mile oval.

#14-Austin Dillon - The Pure Michigan 400 will mark Dillon’s 10th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start and his third Sprint Cup start at Michigan International 
Speedway in Brooklyn.  Dillon’s best career Sprint Cup finish is 11th, earned in June in the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan

#15- Clint Bowyer - Bowyer has three straight seventh place and five straight top-eight finishes at Michigan. He hasn’t finished outside the top-10 at Michigan since August 2010. Bowyer has finished 20th or better in every race since Fontana – a streak of 17 races.

#16- Greg Biffle - Biffle has 21 Sprint Cup career starts at Michigan, earning four wins, 10 top-five and 13 top-10 finishes. Michigan is Biffle’s second-best average finishing track. His average finish is 11.3 from an average starting position of 13.5. Biffle has led a lap in all but six of his 21 starts at Michigan.

#17- Ricky Stenhouse Jr - Stenhouse made his first Sprint Cup start at MIS in June finishing 16th after the rookie was forced to pit early due to debris on the grille. Before the cycle of pit-stops circled through an untimely caution flew one lap later leaving Stenhouse at the tail end of the field. After 22 races this season, Stenhouse Jr. is currently 20th in the point standings.

#18- Kyle Busch - Kyle Busch has 17 Cup starts at Michigan. He has scored 1 win, August 2011, 4 top 5's, 6 top 10's and only 1 DNF. Busch has led 169 laps at the track and has an average start of 14.647 and an average finish of 15.647. 

#20- Matt Kenseth -  In 28 Sprint Cup Series career starts at Michigan, Matt Kenseth has an average finish of 9.4 which ranks him second of all active drivers in the series. Kenseth has completed 5,372 of 5,495 (97.8 percent) career laps, has led for a total of 284 laps. He has earned two wins, 12 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes at the 2.0-mile track located in Brooklyn, Michigan.

#22- Joey Logano - Logano will make his 10th Cup start this week in Michigan. In 9 previous starts he has 4 top 10's with a best finish of 7th in August of 2009. Logano has led 21 laps at the track with an average start of 17.222 and an average finish of 18.444.

#24- Jeff Gordon - Gordon is third all-time with 72 Sprint Cup Series pole positions with five of those fast times occurring at the Irish Hills track. He has visited Victory Lane twice here and posted a series best 18 top-five finishes among all active Cup drivers and 25 top-10's in 41 starts. He has led 954 laps at the track with an average finish of 12.366.

#27- Paul Menard - Menard has 14 starts at Michigan International Speedway. His best start of fourth came earlier this season and best finish of fourth took place in 2011. The Wisconsin native has completed 2,764 of 2,810 laps attempted (98.4 percent) at the Brooklyn, Mich., track, leading 15 of them.

#29- Kevin Harvick - Since his first appearance at Michigan International Speedway in June of 2001, Harvick has made 25 starts at the two-mile, D-shaped oval. In those 25 starts, the California native has collected one win (August 2010), four top-five and nine top-10 finishes. Harvick holds an average starting position of 18.2 coupled with an average finishing position of 14.3, has completed 99.2 percent (4,860 of 4,901) of the laps contested and led 149 circuits.

#31- Jeff Burton - This weekend's 400-mile event marks Burton's 40th start at the two-mile facility and 678th-career Sprint Cup Series entry. Burton has garnered four top-five and 10 top-10 finishes at the track, along with two pole awards in 1996 and 2006. He has also led 76 laps at the Brooklyn, Mich.-based race track.

#34- David Ragan - In 13 Sprint Cup starts at Michigan, Ragan has one top-five, two top-10 and five top-15 finishes, and hasn't finished outside the top 25 in his last six starts at the venue.

#39- Ryan Newman - In 24 Sprint Cup starts at Michigan, Newman has two wins, five top-five finishes and seven top-10"s. Newman, a 35-year-old from South Bend, Ind., also has led 97 laps, has an average starting position of 12.4 and an average finish of 17.7 at the 2-mile oval. 

#42- Juan Pablo Montoya - Montoya has 13 NSCS career starts at MIS. He has three top-10 finishes and has led four laps. His best qualifying position was third in the fall 2009 race and his best finish came in the spring 2009 race when he finished sixth.  His average starting position is 17.7 with an average finish of 22. 

#43- Aric Almirola - Almirola has seven starts at Michigan International Speedway over all three NASCAR premier series. The Tampa, Fla., native scored his second truck series win at the speedway in 2010. He has two top-five starts in 'Cup (2013) and trucks (2010). Almirola's best cup finish was 17th in 2013. 

#47- Bobby Labonte - Bobby Labonte has three wins (8/22/99, 8/20/95, 6/18/95), four poles, three top-five finishes, nine top-10 finishes and has led 241 laps in 41 starts at Michigan International Speedway. His average start is 16.214 and his average finish is 17.667.

#48- Jimmie Johnson - Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn is one of five tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit where Johnson has failed to win – Watkins Glen, Chicagoland Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Kentucky Speedway are the others. His stats at the track include four top-five finishes (17.4 percent) and nine top-10s (39.1 percent) in 23 starts. No poles. Average start of 9.1 and average finish of 15.8. He has completed 4,408 of 4,539 laps (97.1 percent) and led 583. Two DNFs (did not finish, August 2004 and 2012).

#55- Mark Martin -   Martin owns five victories in 55 starts at MIS. He’s posted 18 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes while leading 965 laps. He became the oldest Michigan pole winner on Aug. 19, 2012 at – 53 years, 7 months, 10 days. The deepest in the field that a race winner has started at Michigan was 32nd, by Martin in the spring of 2009. 

#88- Dale Earnhardt Jr -  In 28 Cup starts at Michigan, Earnhardt has recorded two wins, two pole positions, six top-five finishes and 10 top-10s. He has completed 98 percent of all laps he's attempted (5,383 laps of 5,495 total) and led 327 laps.

#99- Carl Edwards - In his previous 18 starts, Edwards has two wins, nine top-five and 14 top-10 finishes. His average start at Michigan is 19.9, his average finish is 8.2. He has completed 99.2 percent of the laps he has attempted at the two-mile track. Only four times in his previous 18 starts has Edwards finished outside the top 10.
