NASCAR Driver Statistics - Texas


Not all teams announce their weekly race previews'. Here is a list of those teams that do reveal the information in the teams race preview: 

#1- Jamie McMurray -  McMurray will make his 19th NSCS start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.  In his previous 18 starts at the 1.5-mile track, the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet has led 70 laps, earning three top-five and six top-10 finishes.  He has an average start and finish of 24.8 and 17.8, respectively.  McMurray’s highest starting position of fourth came in the fall of 2008 and his highest finishing position of second came in the spring of 2005.

#2- Brad Keselowski - Keselowski makes his 10th start at Texas this weekend. He has one top 5 finish at the track, a 2nd place finish in November of 2012. He has led 109 laps around the mile and a half oval and has an average finish of 22.667.

#5- Kasey Kahne - Kahne went to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway on April 9, 2006, after starting from the pole position and leading 63 laps. The driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet SS also has four top-five finishes and five top-10s in 17 Cup starts at the Fort Worth, Texas, oval. Most recently, Kahne scored a seventh-place result in this race last April 2012 and spent 92.2 percent of laps inside the top 15.

#9- Marcos Ambrose - Ambrose will make his 10th start at the speedway. He has collected four top-15 finishes, including a sixth-place finish with Richard Petty Motorsports in the spring of 2011.

#10-Danica Patrick - The NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway will mark Danica Patrick’s 17th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start and her second at Texas. She started 32nd and finished 24th last November at Texas in her first race with Tony Gibson as her crew chief. In four NASCAR Nationwide Series races, Patrick has three top-15 finishes, including an eighth-place result in April 2012.

#14-Tony Stewart - Stewart has one pole, two wins, six top-fives, 12 top-10s and has led a total of 727 laps in his 22 career Sprint Cup starts at Texas. His average start is 18.2, his average finish is 12.7 and he has a lap completion rate of 98.6 percent.

#15- Clint Bowyer - Saturday’s race marks Bowyer’s 15th Sprint Cup start at Texas. He owns three top-fives (2nd in 2011-1, 4th in 2008-2, and 5th in 20065-2) and eight top-10 finishes. His best start was third (2008-2, 2011-1). Bowyer has an average starting position of 13th and finish of 13th. He has led 84 laps, including 44 laps in the spring of 2011 when he finished second – his best finish at Texas.

#16- Greg Biffle -  In his 18 career Cup Series starts at the 1.5-mile track, Biffle has two wins, seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.  His average starting position is 11.2 with an average finishing position of 15.9.

#18- Kyle Busch - The NRA 500 will mark Kyle Busch’s 300th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start and his 16th Sprint Cup start at Texas. Busch has five top-five finishes and six top-10s, and has led a total of 521 laps in his 15 career Sprint Cup starts at Texas. His  average Texas finish is 14.9.

#20- Matt Kenseth -  Kenseth is the top active driver in the Sprint Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway with the best average finish (8.3), the most laps led (772), most top five (12) and top-ten (15) finishes.  Kenseth has completed 6,973 of 7,025 (99.3 percent) career laps at Texas in the Sprint Cup Series and has won twice at the 1.5-mile track (April 2002 and 2011).

#22- Joey Logano - In nine starts at Texas Motor Speedway, Logano has one top 5 finish, fourth place in November of 2010. Logano has led 30 laps at the track and ahs an averag starting spot of 17.556 and an average finish of 23.556. He has suffered only one DNF at Texas.

#24- Jeff Gordon - In 24 starts at Texas Motor Speedway, Gordon has a lone win (2009), two poles, eight top-fives and 11 top-10′s.

#27- Paul Menard - rt of fourth and best finish of fifth came in 2011. The Wisconsin native has completed 4,168 of 4,353 laps attempted (95.8 percent) at the 1.5-mile oval, leading two of them.

#29- Kevin Harvick - Harvick will make his 21st start at Texas Motor Speedway and 437th-career Sprint Cup Series start during the 334-lap event this Saturday. Since 2001, the California native has collected three top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. Harvick, who holds a 20.8 average starting position coupled with a 12.5 average finishing position, has completed 99.8 percent (6,677 of 6,691) of the laps contested and is credited with five laps led. 

#31- Jeff Burton -  Burton was Texas Motor Speedway’s first two-time Sprint Cup Series race winner after visiting Victory Lane in the inaugural NSCS event in 1997 and again in 2007. Burton has also tallied three top-five and nine top-10 finishes while leading 180 laps at the 1.5-mile facility.

#39- Ryan Newman - In 19 Sprint Cup Series starts at Texas, Newman boasts one win, three top-five finishes and three top-10s. Additionally, the 35-year-old from South Bend, Ind., has led 94 laps, has an average starting position of 16.5 and an average finish of 20.3 at the Fort Worth oval.

#42- Juan Pablo Montoya - Montoya has made 12 NSCS starts at Texas Motor Speedway, leading 12 laps and accumulating two top-10 finishes.  He has an average starting position of 16.3 and an average finishing position of 23.5 at the 1.5-mile track.  His best starting position of third came in the fall of 2007, while his highest finishing position came in April 2009, when the No. 42 Chevrolet crossed the line in seventh.

#43- Aric Almirola - Almirola heads to Ft. Worth with four starts under his belt. Last fall, he started 14th and finished 15th with the No. 43 Eckrich Ford team.

#48- Jimmie Johnson - Notes of Interest: Two wins (November 2012 and 2007) in 19 starts. One pole (November 2012). Nine top-five finishes (47.4 percent) and 14 top-10s (73.7 percent) in 19 starts. Average start is 8.8 and average finish is 9.3. One DNF (Did Not Finish) – April 2007. Has completed 6,153 of 6,357 laps (96.8 percent) and led 443. Sprint Cup’s second-best driver rating (103.5 average of a possible 150 points). Sprint Cup’s second-best in fastest laps run (370).

#55- Mark Martin -  In 24 Sprint Cup starts at Texas, Martin owns one victory (1998) and eight top-five finishes. He’s led 208 laps.

#56- Martin Truex Jr. -  In 15 NSCS starts, he has earned two poles, one top-five and seven top-10 finishes. In six Texas starts driving the NAPA Toyota, he has one pole and three top-10s.

#88- Dale Earnhardt Jr -  In 21 Sprint Cup starts at Texas Motor Speedway, Earnhardt has scored one win, two pole positions, three top-five finishes and 12 top-10s. He has an average starting position of 11.8, which is his second-best at all tracks, and he has led at least one lap in 13 of those starts for a total of 448 laps.

#99- Carl Edwards - Edwards has accumulated three wins at the 1.5-mile Texas track, the most of any active Sprint Cup driver.  Edwards’ average start at Texas is 14.4 and his average finish is 15.1.  He is one of only two drivers to win both the spring & fall events in the same year at Texas.
