Notes: This being the first dirt track race in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history, this is the first time teams have run either of these two Goodyear tire codes. There are three main differences between this tire set-up and the one that Camping World Truck teams "normally" run on asphalt ovals.  (1) These are bias ply tires, not radials, and are more compliant and able to envelope the irregularities of the dirt surface.  (2) These tires have a block-style tread pattern to help evacuate the dirt, not a "slick" or smooth tread.  (3) This left side tire (D-3004) is significantly shorter to build in more stagger between the left and right side tires. This tire is based on a dirt modified tire already in Goodyear Racing's tire line. The Eldora tire has been widened out to 11 inches (from 10 inches on the dirt modified tire) to give the trucks more grip. Goodyear ran two tests in preparation for this event. The first test, held at Eldora with Tony Stewart, Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon, was with the 10-inch-wide tire. The second test, held at 311 Speedway in Pine Hall, NC with Ty Dillon, was on the the 11-inch-wide tire. As on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Eldora.

NASCAR and NBC Sports Group Reach Landmark Media Rights Agreement

NASCAR and NBC Sports Group announced today they have reached a comprehensive agreement that grants NBC Universal exclusive rights to the final 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, final 19 NASCAR Nationwide Series events, select NASCAR Regional & Touring Series events and other live content beginning in 2015. Financial terms of the agreement, which runs through the 2024 season, were not disclosed. 

With this partnership, NBC’s 20 Sprint Cup race schedule includes becoming the exclusive home to the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR’s final 10 races of the season, including its season-ending championship event which will return to network television in 2015 for the first time since 2009. Of NBC Sports Group’s 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events, seven will be carried on NBC annually, with 13 airing on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). Four of NBC Sports Group’s 19 NASCAR Nationwide Series races will air on NBC, with 15 airing on NBCSN.

In addition to rights to NASCAR Sprint Cup and NASCAR Nationwide Series races, NBC has also obtained exclusive rights to practice and qualifying sessions for NBC’s national series events during their portion of the season, as well as rights to broadcast the NASCAR K&N Series, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Toyota (Mexico) Series, the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony and NASCAR’s season-ending banquets. Further, NBC has been granted Spanish-language rights, certain video-on-demand rights and exclusive TV Everywhere rights for its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series events.

ESPN's eight-year run of broadcasting NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races will end after the 2014 season.

According to the Sports Business Journal, which first reported the story on Tuesday morning, NBC will pay as much as 50 percent more than ESPN was paying.


ESPN had exclusive negotiating rights through July 14. When it did not sign an extension, NASCAR was free to negotiate with NBC, which televised the sport from 2001-2006.

Turner Broadcasting, which televised six Cup races in the summer, also is out after 2014. The Cup races not picked up by NBC and the first half of the Nationwide schedule is expected to be bid on by Fox.

· Indianapolis Motor Speedway has existed since 1909, and is the original "Speedway," the first racing facility to incorporate the word into its name.

NASCAR This Week on ESPN

ESPN Begins NASCAR Sprint Cup Coverage at Indianapolis

ESPN begins its telecasts of the final 17 races of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season with the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 28. NASCAR Countdown airs at noon ET with the race’s green flag at 1:19 p.m. The race telecast is presented by Golden Corral. Also from Indianapolis, NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying on Saturday, July 27, airs on ESPN at 2 p.m. and ESPN2 will air Sprint Cup practice Saturday at 9 a.m.

ESPN also will have a live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Indianapolis on Saturday. NASCAR Countdown airs at 4 p.m. with the green flag at 4:50 p.m. The race will be the last of four consecutive events that comprise the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dash 4 Cash, a bonus program that will award an extra $100,000 to the highest-finishing of four eligible drivers in each of the four designated races.

Joey Logano won the 3rd Annual STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway, his 20th victory in 118 NASCAR Nationwide Series races. Logano's 20th series victory ties him with Greg Biffle for 15th on the all-time wins list. This is his second victory and sixth top-10 finish in 2013. This is his second victory and fourth top-10 finish in five races at Chicagoland Speedway. Sam Hornish Jr. (second) posted his fourth top-10 finish in four races at Chicagoland Speedway. It is his 14th top-10 finish in 2013.Austin Dillon (third) posted his third top-10 finish in three races at Chicagoland Speedway. Dillon also claimed the Nationwide Insurance Dash 4 Cash award for the second race in a row. Kyle Larson (12th) was the highest finishing rookie.Sam Hornish Jr. leads the point standings by 7 points over Regan Smith.
